Gorgeous eye poppingly bright handmade CRAZY pattern patchwork quilt top that was hand pieced then never finished into a quilt.
This top measures 76″ x 90” and was purchased during 2005 from Costa Mesa-California: USA.
The overall colour palette of this quilt top is red, white and blue….the crazy blocks are made from a variety of cadet and indigo blues, blacks and mourning greys, turkey reds, clarets and cinnamon pinks, plus many shirting fabrics including a couple of wonderful horse conversational prints….aren’t they just charming!
The maker actually didn’t use foundation backing cloth to hand piece her blocks and chose instead to sew each patch to its neighbour with a running stitch. She then backed those blocks using sections of repurposed white sheeting and feed sacks.
There are very few condition problems with this top please see the pictures….this was never actually finished into a quilt and as such hasn’t seen much wear and tear.
I found just three seams that need reinforcing and one of the long sheeting sections used to back the quilt needs replacing….no odours or bad stains were noted just a few minor age spots that will come out when laundered.
This would look gorgeous hung on display, thrown over a rail, end of the bed or back of the couch….otherwise you may elect to finish this project started over 100 years ago into the wonderful quilt she was meant to be!
