1920’s – Wow! Magnificent Antique Spring Beauty Vintage Quilt: Near Perfect!

This is a magnificent handmade, hand quilted 1930’s Aquamarine Blue & White SPRING BEAUTY VARIATION Antique Quilt in near perfect condition.
The quilt measures 65″ x 73”…..I purchased this in 2000 from an Australian dealer that had originally purchased this quilt from Ottawa:Canada.

There are 42 x vivid aquamarine blue & snowy white Spring Beauty blocks each measuring 8” x 8” that are set out in 6 x 7 rows with 2” wide strips of white sashing separating the blocks and a 2” wide outer border of aquamarine blue finishing the quilt.

A very thin layer of cotton wadding has been used for the batting with white cotton backing fabric…….the quilt has then has been hand quilted together with small, very neat stitches at an average of 7 stitches to the inch in a tiny diamond grid pattern around the border and a fan or elbow quilting pattern within the body of the quilt. This is a paper thin quilt.

It’s a lovely quilt in excellent condition for age which could literally be used on your bed tomorrow!
There is really only one condition issue noted with this one…..unfortunately somebody saw fit at some stage to wash it with bleach which has seen a few areas lightened…..however the fabrics & quilting stitches are very strong.
I couldn’t find any stains on the quilt front or back….there are perhaps some faint handling marks around the edges but it’s hard to say?
There are absolutely no odours to this quilt: it’s bright, crisp & snowy clean!
