#10 – Bootylicious Block – OPA Sampler SAL 2023 – PDF Pattern
Block #10 – ‘Bootylicious’ – is a variation of ‘Grandma’s Favourite Compass’ or ‘Setting Sun’ – #3661 in the Block Base bible.
In contrast both Maggie Malone and Yvonne Khin have similar compass blocks named as ‘Rolling Pin Wheel’ however all these variations have straight points.
I was determined to reproduce this orphan compass block as my second mystery block.
But seeing as I couldn’t pin this chick down with her curvy compass points, I had nothing else left to do but draft my block from scratch.
Tadaaaa, the very curvaceous Bootylicious was born!
‘Bootylicious’ whilst challenging is very doable and best achieved using traced templates and hand piecing.
I added plenty of match points to the templates to ensure accuracy.
I also drafted a simpler option aka ‘Faux Bootylicious’ utilising straight lines for the compass points.
This version will work better for those that prefer to machine piece or FPP – foundation paper piece their block.
This pattern contains:

Subsequently you will also receive an email with the download link should you happen to miss that step.
Important:
To ensure accurate sizing of your blocks you first need to save that file onto your computer.
Open that file using Adobe Reader and turn off scaling: ie select ‘Print at 100%’ or ‘Actual Size’.

Once you have printed your pattern be sure to measure the one inch grid which can be found at the bottom left hand side of the page.
Remember, printing directly from a link usually alters the formatting and size of your pattern!
