1940’s Gorgeous Antique Lipstick Pink Spiderweb Lemoyne Star Vintage Quilt – Immaculate Condition!

This is an absolutely gorgeous hand pieced and hand quilted 1940’s Lipstick Pink LEMOYNE STAR, SPIDERWEB or COBWEB Antique Quilt in immaculate, mint, unused condition!
The quilt measures 79″ x 71”…..I purchased this in 2000 from an Australian dealer that had originally purchased this quilt from Kentucky: USA.

There are 5 x 4.5 rows of large string pieced lemoyne stars measuring 16” x 16”……they are constructed from brightly coloured classic 40’s prints and solids including many feedsack prints….onto a background of that vivid lipstick pink setting fabric!
What a firecracker of a quilt…..such an exciting explosion of vivid colour!

A very thin layer of cotton wadding has been used for the batting with cream calico backing fabric…….the quilt has then has been hand quilted together in a diamond grid pattern with tiny little neat stitches at an average of 8 stitches to the inch.  This is a paper thin quilt.

This gorgeous quilt is in excellent unused condition: you could literally use this on your bed tomorrow and with gentle use it should last another 80 years!
There are only two condition issues noted…..a pink bias binding was applied by machine to 3 sides of the quilt by a much less deft hand and in my opinion should be replaced with a handsewn binding……there is also one age spot on the calico back……and that’s it!
The fabrics are perfect and quilting stitches strong…….there’s absolutely no odours to this quilt: it’s as bright, crisp and snowy clean as the day it was finished!
