#19 – Crooked Mile – OPA Sampler SAL 2023 – is a PDF Pattern
Block number nineteen – Crooked Mile has been drafted from the tiny remnant left behind after those dreaded✂️✂️✂️
We know this block more commonly as Drunkard’s Path.
However I did a deep dive into BB’s Blockbase and found that #1461 is known by #20 different names!
Solomon’s Puzzle, Robbing Peter to Pay Paul, Wanderer’s Path in the Wilderness, Crooked Trail…..and the list goes on.
My list of clever names all related to Drunkard’s Path but didn’t feel quite right as I felt they were shaming those challenged by the drink.
Do you remember that Mother Goose nursery rhyme from our childhood whereby that fascinating crooked man walked a crooked mile?
I love that he embraced his challenges, choosing to live in a little crooked house alongside his crooked cat bought with a crooked sixpence.
You can elect to piece your #19 Crooked Mile block by hand or machine.
I hand pieced my block using vintage fabrics from the stash….I was only able to rescue two of the original pieces.
This pattern contains:
• Full size Foundation Paper Piecing pattern pages should you prefer to use FPP to piece your block
• Templates ready to trace for hand piecing
• Piecing Diagrams to assemble your block

There are #49 blocks in total…….with each block finishing at 11 inches square.
Now that the SAL has ended each block is now priced at $5.00.
However should you wish to purchase the complete set of #49 x patterns it works out to approx $1.00 each.

Simply ‘add to cart’, enter your details, click ‘proceed to checkout’ and then click ‘place order’.
After that your green download link will appear.
You will subsequently receive an email with the download link should you happen to miss that step.
Important:
To ensure accurate sizing of your blocks you first need to save the file onto your computer.
Open that file using Adobe Reader and turn off scaling: ie select ‘Print at 100%’ or ‘Actual Size’.
PLEASE READ: How to Download & Print a Digital PDF Quilt Pattern BEFORE printing off your pattern.
Once you have printed your pattern be sure to measure the one inch grid which found at the bottom left hand side of the page.
Remember, printing directly from a link usually alters the formatting and size of your pattern!
I’ve also added a 6″ grid PDF in the shop so that you can check your printer scaling which will show up any printer anomalies before you start.
